'Go, shine in the world'.

About us

The Go Shine Church of England Federation

The Go Shine Church of England Federation of schools was established in June 2025 by the Governing Bodies of the five schools, Juliette Jackson (Executive Principal), Harvey Webb (Executive Headteacher), the London Diocesan Board for Schools (LDBS), Camden LA and Westminster LA:

For many years, the schools worked closely together in a school partnership. The Governing Bodies of the schools understood that being part of this partnership – rather than operating as stand-alone schools – is the reason why the majority of schools in our partnership were so high performing and judged as Outstanding by Ofsted and through the Church of England inspections (known as SIAMS). This meant that pupils had one of the best educational offers in the country. They were keen to secure and maintain this position by formalising the partnership within one federation.

GO SHINE FEDERATION

Go Shine Federation schools all share our joint vision for children to ‘Go, shine in the world and live as Jesus lived’.

It is a federation of schools providing a caring, stable, intellectually and creatively stimulating environment for our children.

Staff are committed to ensuring that each child’s time at school is inspiring and productive, so that they can move confidently to the next stage of their education.

Go Shine Federation schools serve the local community in which they are situated by welcoming children from all faiths and children with no faith background.

As Church of England schools, we believe every child is made in the image of God, and therefore we want the best for them. We value and respect the diversity of our school communities as places where pupils and adults can flourish.

We have strong partnerships with our parish churches and clergy.

We work closely with parents, federation governors, staff and our federation schools to ensure that every child is given the best possible start on their educational journey.

What is a Federation?

A federation is a partnership of local authority maintained schools operating under the governance of a single governing body.

Each federated school is treated as an individual school, meaning it

keeps its existing DfE category and does not gain, lose, or change its religious character through being part of a federation;

continues to have its admissions determined by the appropriate admission authority;

will receive individual budgets; and

is inspected individually by OFSTED.

Why do our schools choose to be part of the Go Shine Federation?

Go Shine Federation schools have more capacity, expertise and sustainability than individual one-form entry schools. This enables them to be more effective in terms of providing a great quality of education for children. The greater scale also allows the Go Shine Federation schools to offer better opportunities for staff development and progression, so helping retain quality staff and also be attractive to new staff when recruiting.

The Go Shine Federation has a large number of staff working for it. This means that there are more excellent teachers (curriculum teams) to write and continue to review the curriculum so that it remains of the highest quality.

All of the curriculum planning is developed across the federation, which both improves its quality (as more people are involved) and reduces workload for individual teachers significantly.

Go Shine Federation schools also reduce workload and grow expertise in leadership, including of early years, phonics, Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Year 6, through shared working across the schools. This helps the schools retain and develop staff.

Go Shine Federation schools are attractive to ambitious staff, who are looking for organisations who can provide them with coaching and mentoring and the ability to develop.

Leaders of the future want to work in our schools because they are well supported with the challenges that leadership brings and are not alone.

Go Shine Federation schools maintain the highly effective culture when a leader moves on because we are able to ‘grow’ our own leaders for the future. These people absolutely understand how the best schools operate and have had a long apprenticeship within the organisation. When these ’home grown’ staff are appointed to senior leadership roles, children, staff and parents feel confident that the school will continue to excel.
